We had an awesome run, met some really amazing people, and grown and learned so much. We started the year off playing monthly brunches at our neighbourhood spot, The Old Nick, with our bi-monthly evening shows continuing at Harlem Restaurant. We got to perform with our full Quintet & Miss Dior at a few festivals as well, like the Mount Pleasant Harvest Festival, The Mirvish Village Street Festival, and the Evergreen Brickworks Etsy Market. There were a bunch of private parties that were really wonderful events, and were so much fun. We played a 50th Anniversary at the super exclusive men's-only Athletic Club, The Cambridge Club; Several Weddings, one of which was a Prohibition-era themed shindig that took place in a huge, red, Milton barn; A hand full of Christmas Parties like the Italian Chambers of Commerce of Ontario's (ICCO) delicious Christmas party at the Vaughan City Hall; We had the honour of headlining Canada Day Celebrations at Victoria Park, Niagara Falls, performing for thousands of people, on a huge stage, set beside the majestic Falls. And Finally, we started recording the last couple of months on our EP, which will be released in the 2017 Year (more details to come). Special shout-out to our drummer Kenneth Wong for letting us record "live off the living room floor" in your home, and for all you hard work editing.

Every year we are getting better, wiser, stronger. We are so happy and grateful to welcome 2 new horn players to the fold. Mike Persichilli has been playing some dirty trombone, and Joseph Leo Callender has been blowing some serious saxophone for us for the last couple of months. These guys are so talented, and have added so much richness to our sound. Three's company, Five's a party!

Anyhow, we got to play a beautiful wedding a couple weeks ago that took place at Country Heritage Park. It was most of our first time playing at a same-sex wedding, and i can honestly say that we all felt proud, and honoured to have been chosen to perform for the couple and their guests. We were honored to live in a place that has finally recognized that it is nobody's right to stand in the way of love. And there was so much love in the Country Heritage Barn that day (even the wind and the rafters couldn't contain themselves). We were also honoured to get to craft a setlist that was mindful of this particular love story it was soundtrack to. So, congratulations to you lovely ladies. The Sean Stanley Trio & Miss Dior were invited to be a featured performer in the Tribute to Humanness - One World Concert, at Queen Victoria Falls. We got to perform a full 1 hour set on a beautiful outdoor stage that was literally overlooking the Falls. It was simply breathtaking. Performing outdoors always has this surreal feeling, magnified by the fact that we're next to one of the wonders of the world, doing what we love and are passionate about, and sharing it with thousands of people...It starts to feel like a truly religious experience. Miss Dior and Sean Stanley were also asked to open the concert with "Oh Canada". It was a real honour.

The event was held as part of a larger, week-long conference and celebration that brought thousands of Sant Nirankari Mission members and fans from all over the world together. We made some new friends and fans from many different corners like Washington, the UK and India.

We would like to Thank the Sant Nirankari Mission for choosing us to participate in such a beautiful event to honour love, peace, sacrifice and humanity. Your Mission does such wonderful work for the vulnerable and the underprivileged, and we look forward to supporting your future events! Your staff, volunteers, members, and guest were so warm, inviting, attentive, and appreciative...we couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Special thanks to Galen Weir who was throwing down on the upright bass, and Kenneth "young gun" Wong on drums. But there was a twist!
"In this world, there are 2 universal languages...with music being one of them. Classic songs such as "Mood Indigo", "Summertime", "Drown In My Own Tears", "Misty" and "Black Coffee" were performed with some real goodies such as "The Mooch", "Blues are Brewing" and a Sokhna-Dior and Carlos Morgan duet of Ellington's "I Ain't Got Nothing But The Blues" thrown in as a treat. Carlos Morgan and Sean Stanley also performed their original songs to the Alleycatz crowd, who we thank endlessly for supporting us. Fortunately, we finished our set and got packed up right as the first few drops of that torrential storm that rolled through started coming down. We did however make time to dash back out in the rain to grab some rotis from the Caribbean food table next to us. We were smelling them for over three hours, so we couldn't leave without a roti. And they were well worth the soggy sprint! Mmmmmm...Anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH to the Mirvish Village BIA for having us back. It was pretty awesome playing outside of The World Famous Honest Ed's, which is one of Toronto's most recognizable landmarks, and sadly will be closing forever in 2016. So we're happy we got to be a part of it in some way.

As usual, we'll be at Harlem Underground (745 Queen Street West) tomorrow night @ 7:30. We just got done a three week stint of playing almost nightly at Harlem Restaurant as part of the 2015 Toronto Summerlicious. We had a blast connecting with new people, making new fans, challenging our strength, stamina and endurance, oh, and the food...Oy! I think we all gained a few extra pounds during Summerlicious, but with the rising cost of food, the falling wages of musicians and the recession that nobody wants to talk about, it was so awesome to be fed and taken care of by the entire staff at Harlem. You have all been so helpful and supportive and we are so grateful that you guys believe in us and believe in our music!

We continue to play every Thursday night at Harlem Underground (745 Queen Street West) and Every Other Friday Night at Harlem East (67 Richmond Street East). Check out the Events page for the details.

The Jazz Festival was also really awesome. We got to play 2 Jazz Festival gigs, the TBS Talent Search, saw Tower of Power, Booker T. Jones, and The Count Basie Orchestra, and most notably for us, we attended the Archie Alleyne Tribute at the Daniels Spectrum Theatre. They had an amazing line-up of musicians and artists, inspiring speakers and a wall lined with tables that essentially served as a scrapbook for the life of the legendary Toronto jazz figure, Archie Alleyne. We never personally got to meet him, but we felt the loss once we learned about the great man that was right under our noses. He was a man that believed so strongly in nurturing future generations of jazz musicians who had limited access and resources. We got to hear people like Shakura S'aidah and Jackie Richardson (who we also got to meet and connect with) recount their memories of him and how he just wanted so much to be in the service of mentorship. Toronto needs more jazz cats like him and we aspire to one day leave behind even half the legacy he did. Rest in Peace Mr. Archie Alleyne.

On another note, since we've had a chance to catch our breath and we're back to a somewhat regular schedule, Sean and myself have been working on new arrangements/covers and working on new original music. We're really excited to announce that we will be hitting up Number 9 Studio in August to do some professional, live off the floor recordings. So be on the look-out for that. We're always open to new funding sources for our upcoming album by the way...just saying :o)

Anyway, here's one of Sean's arts & crafts projects...look he made a photo collage!

Wild Man Blues - Sean Stanley

Stop Time Entertainmenttag:stoptimeentertainment.com,2005:Post/37325962015-06-08T13:21:42-04:002015-06-08T13:21:42-04:0011 More Sleeps till the Competition! We can wait to swing some Blues at the Toronto Blues Society Talent Competition this June 20th @ 2pm in the Distillery District! In October of 2014, we played our first official show as a duo. Since then, we've hit the ground running and grinding hard to make things happen. At the start of 2015, we got to play one of our goal venues, Jazz Bistro, putting on our very own showcase for Black History Month called RHYTHM, THEN BLUES. We've locked down a weekly gig at Harlem Underground Restaurant and built up a strong quartet of brilliant musicians (Mr. Ben Young on Upright Bass and Mr. Gabe Girard on Percussion). We also secured a spot in the 2015 TD Toronto Jazz Festival. It has all be so awesome and we are eternally grateful for the support and opportunities from the various people, groups, venues and businesses. THE FOOD HERE IS RIDICULOUS. Yup. Catfish was on point and the Fried Chicken with Rice and Peas were so proper. The upstairs space is really funky, yet intimate, and perfect for taking in some live music. It was our absolute pleasure performing and eating here. The staff was super chill and friendly, the space is decorated with really cool and odd furniture and antiques, and the building itself has a fascinating history. We're excited we get to perform here again this Friday, November 14th. Sean and Myself will be there playing 2 sets of mostly covers we've reworked in our unique style. You'll also be treated to one of Sean's originals, "Scarborough Stomp", which is his nod to the East End. In addition, we'll also be treating you to our very special guest Casey Van Gorkom, a guitarist and bassist who is also 1/6th of Turbo Street Funk, an energetic, funky Toronto Band.
