2017 HERE WE COME!

2016 YEAR OUT, YEAR IN REVIEW

As we wind down 2016, ALL OF US here would like to thank everybody for their support over the year.  We had an awesome run, met some really amazing people, and grown and learned so much.  We started the year off playing monthly brunches at our neighbourhood spot, The Old Nick, with our bi-monthly evening shows continuing at Harlem Restaurant. We got to perform with our full Quintet & Miss Dior at a few festivals as well, like the Mount Pleasant Harvest Festival, The Mirvish Village Street Festival, and the Evergreen Brickworks Etsy Market.  There were a bunch of private parties that were really wonderful events, and were so much fun.  We played a 50th Anniversary at the super exclusive men's-only Athletic Club, The Cambridge Club; Several Weddings, one of which was a Prohibition-era themed shindig that took place in a huge, red, Milton barn; A hand full of Christmas Parties like the Italian Chambers of Commerce of Ontario's (ICCO) delicious Christmas party at the Vaughan City Hall; We had the honour of headlining Canada Day Celebrations at Victoria Park, Niagara Falls, performing for thousands of people, on a huge stage, set beside the majestic Falls.  And Finally, we started recording the last couple of months on our EP, which will be released in the 2017 Year (more details to come).  Special shout-out to our drummer Kenneth Wong for letting us record "live off the living room floor" in your home, and for all you hard work editing.

Every year we are getting better, wiser, stronger.  And we are so thankful to all the restaurant owners, bookers, event planners, party hosts, venues, venue staff, organizations, individuals, constructive criticizers, chefs, drivers, fellow musicians, friends, family and fans.  You are forever etched in our story, and we are so grateful, and appreciative of all you have done for or with us.

This New Year our resolution is to be more unapologetic when it comes to our music. We're raw, and authentic, and we come from less than perfect circumstances in life.  But we have all overcome, and we're not afraid to tell OUR stories through our music, through our improvisations, through our voices.

The Motto for 2017:  WE MAKE REAL F$@#ING MUSIC.

Happy New Year to all of you.  Be Safe.

Warm Regards,

The Sean Stanley Quintet & Miss Dior

The Mooche! The Mooche! The Mooche Is on Fire!

For those of you who haven't made it out to our last couple of shows, you may or may not have noticed that The Stop Time Family has expanded.  We are so happy and grateful to welcome 2 new horn players to the fold.  Mike Persichilli has been playing some dirty trombone, and Joseph Leo Callender has been blowing some serious saxophone for us for the last couple of months.  These guys are so talented, and have added so much richness to our sound.  Three's company, Five's a party!

Anyhow, we got to play a beautiful wedding a couple weeks ago that took place at Country Heritage Park.  It was most of our first time playing at a same-sex wedding, and i can honestly say that we all felt proud, and honoured to have been chosen to perform for the couple and their guests.  We were honored to live in a place that has finally recognized that it is nobody's right to stand in the way of love.  And there was so much love in the Country Heritage Barn that day (even the wind and the rafters couldn't contain themselves).  We were also honoured to get to craft a setlist that was mindful of this particular love story it was soundtrack to.  So, congratulations to you lovely ladies.  We wish you everlasting love, success and happiness

And now...a couple videos of our performance in the Windy Barn.

Here's "The Mooche" & "I Can't Give You Anything But Love" featuring Mike Persichilli on Trombone and Joseph Leo Callender on Saxophone

You're welcome :o)

Oh, Canada!

So it's been exactly two weeks since Canada Day, and as you might have seen here on our website or our social media, we had a huge gig in Niagara Falls.  The Sean Stanley Trio & Miss Dior were invited to be a featured performer in the Tribute to Humanness - One World Concert, at Queen Victoria Falls.  We got to perform a full 1 hour set on a beautiful outdoor stage that was literally overlooking the Falls.  It was simply breathtaking.  Performing outdoors always has this surreal feeling, magnified by the fact that we're next to one of the wonders of the world, doing what we love and are passionate about, and sharing it with thousands of people...It starts to feel like a truly religious experience.  Miss Dior and Sean Stanley were also asked to open the concert with "Oh Canada".  It was a real honour.

The event was held as part of a larger, week-long conference and celebration that brought thousands of Sant Nirankari Mission members and fans from all over the world together.  We made some new friends and fans from many different corners like Washington, the UK and India.

We would like to Thank the Sant Nirankari Mission for choosing us to participate in such a beautiful event to honour love, peace, sacrifice and humanity.  Your Mission does such wonderful work for the vulnerable and the underprivileged, and we look forward to supporting your future events!  Your staff, volunteers, members, and guest were so warm, inviting, attentive, and appreciative...we couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Special thanks to Galen Weir who was throwing down on the upright bass, and Kenneth "young gun" Wong on drums.  We are grateful to work with such talented and all-around good people.

Photo time!

Oh, and don't miss us at Harlem Restaurant July 15th and 30th!

Some Blues For Your Friday!

Thank you to all who came out to celebrate Miss Dior's birthday at The Old Nick...we had a blast!  Our friend Reinhard G., who has become a faithful superfan, gifted Miss Dior with a USB of some footage he shot of our last few shows.  So here's one of them, "Billie's Blues" which is a sassy blues song written by Ms. Billie Holiday herself.  The video was shot at Harlem Restaurant, where you can catch us performing live at least twice a month (their food is sooo good).  Like, comment, share, subscribe and enjoy!

Stay Jazzy.
